In a remarkable initiative to develop English communication skills and global awareness, the Grade VII students of NATPLUS SMP Edu Global School Medan recently participated in an enlightening sharing session with Mr. Arthur E. Kallansrud Jr., a distinguished Technical Sergeant with a military background from the United States. The session was a part of the school’s ongoing efforts to enhance students’ conversational fluency through real-world interactions.
Mr. Arthur, as he was warmly addressed by the students, brought a wealth of experience not only from his military service but also from his international engagements. With patience and encouragement, he engaged the students in casual yet meaningful conversations, allowing them to express their thoughts, ask questions, and share their dreams. This immersive approach gave students the confidence to practice English in a relaxed and interactive environment.
The atmosphere during the session was filled with excitement and curiosity. Students took turns introducing themselves, talking about their hobbies, and even discussing their favorite movies and books. Mr. Arthur responded with stories from his travels and life in the military, captivating the young audience and inspiring them to dream big and communicate with clarity.
More than just an English lesson, the session became a cultural bridge—connecting two very different worlds through open dialogue and mutual respect. It showed students the importance of communication as a life skill and reminded them that language is a powerful tool for understanding people from different backgrounds.
This unique encounter left a lasting impression on the students of Grade VII NATPLUS. Many expressed gratitude and said the session helped them feel more motivated to study English and pursue international opportunities. Thanks to Mr. Arthur’s visit, these young learners now see the English language not just as a subject, but as a passport to the world.
